Our Journey

About Us

Cock-a-Doodle Brews began more than 20 years ago with a homebrew kit from a small brew shop in Kansas City.  The brewing-bug took hold and, over the years, led to a solid stable of unique recipes, a strong local following, and consistent success at local brew competitions.

In early 2018, the opportunity to put our beer on shelves and taps came about through a childhood friendship with the owner of Weston Brewing Company.  Ideas were shared, bonds re-kindled, and Rhode Island Red Rye launched as our first commercial brew in July.  Our second offering, Hippie Chick – a hazy cream IPA – hit shelves around Christmas 2019.

Seeing our beer on shelves was like a band hearing their song on radio – we loved being able to share our craft creations with an enthusiastic community of beer lovers!

So many people wanted to know where our brewery and taproom was located so they could come hang out and enjoy an on-site experience… and this set up the next phase of the journey.

In July of 2023 we began construction on a physical location that would be Bigger than Beer.   It took us over two years, but on October 1, 2025 we launched our Revvelry Brewhouse – a community hub that uniquely threads together complimentary passions.   With a two-story taproom and lounge that overlooks a showroom full of collectible vehicles, a gorgeous outdoor patio and greenspace for games and live music, and a huge parking lot for community events – including a burnout pad for horsepower hungry car enthusiasts – there is no other taproom like this on the planet!

Our Revvelry Brewhouse is a destination – we bring delicious, local craft beer and cocktails to the community in an upscale environment that you’ll be excited to tell your friends about.

Come for a visit – we’d love to serve you up a remarkable experience!

The Genesis.

Bryan brewed his first batch – an Irish stout – using a kit he and his dad purchased together from Schmitty’s, a local brew shop in Kansas City.  It was love at first brew. Bryan has been brewing ever since, for more than 25 years now.

Our First Recipe.

It was time to venture into  designing our own recipes, starting on this day with a Belgian white ale.  It didn’t suck, and that inspired us to keep going.

March 2013
Upgrade.

Upgraded to an all-grain brewing system (about time, right?  Only took 16 years!), which supercharged brewing creativity.  Bryan LOVES formulating interesting malt mixes for new brews!

March 2014
Our First Competition.

Entered our first home brew competition, the Blarney Brew Off, hosted by Grains and Taps in downtown Lee’s Summit.  Came up with the name “Cock-a-Doodle Brews” for the competition to represent our Lone Jack, MO country lifestyle (and because we had just started raising chickens!).  It was a great day… Our brews won the People’s Choice Award and we took 3rd in the Stout category!

First Brew for Rhode Island Red.

The recipe for Rhode Island Red Rye Ale was brewed for the very first time.  We introduced this beer at Grains and Taps’ Blarney Brew Off in February 2018 and it quickly became one of our favorites!

Hitting the Shelves.

Partnered with Weston Brewing Company to brew the first commercial batch of Rhode Island Red Rye Ale.  It first hit shelves on July 27 and we had launch parties in August at both Fringe Beerworks (thanks Eddie!) and Grains and Taps (thanks Brian and Brad!).  No kegs of the Red Rye survived at either one!  Our buddy Corey from Weston Brewing Co. said that seeing your beer on shelves feels like hearing your song on the radio… Well said brother!  Wisdom.

Christmas Day 2019
Introducing Hippie Chick.

After months of tinkering with a new recipe to get the hops bill to work with the brewing system (Hippie Chick has a TON of hops!), we finally solved the riddle.  On Christmas day we announced the launch of our second commercial brew - Hippie Chick Country Cream IPA!

July 2023
Bigger Than Beer.

We decided to go Bigger than Beer… breaking ground on our first physical location.   Our vision was to build not just another micro-brewery and taproom, but a one-of-a-kind community hub that uniquely threads together complimentary passions.

Revvelry Brewhouse

We launched the Revvelry Brewhouse - our Bigger than Beer vision that brings people together around craft beverages, collectible vehicles, and community events.  With a two story taproom that overlooks a showroom full of collectible vehicles, a gorgeous outdoor patio and greenspace for games and live music, and a huge parking lot for community events - including a burnout pad for horsepower hungry car enthusiasts - there is no other taproom like this on the planet!
